Kiltearn House Luxury 4-star accommodation in the Scottish Highlands

Posted by Emily White - 10:42 on 18 December 2014

We had the absolute pleasure of welcoming guests Bruce and Jane Rioch from 4th to the 9th September. Bruce and Jane were visiting the area for a family reunion and chose Kiltearn House as their base from which to explore the area.

The family group photo below is the reunion of the Campbell family taken at Carnegie Lodge Hotel in, Tain.

Bruce´s mother Maggie Campbell left Kilmuir in Skye and moved to the mainland to Farr, then Daviot and then eventually settled in Swordale near Evanton. His grandparents were Alexander and Annie Campbell who lived in Drumore Cottage and then The Street / Milton Cottage thereafter until the middle of the 1960´s. In all there were 10 children who eventually moved away except for Malcolm.

Bruce and Jane are keen to gather information about Bruce´s grandparents. They visited the Cornerstone Cafe in Evanton to use the excellent facilities to look into their family history. Bruce and Jane would like to ask the locals in the Evanton and Swordale area if they have any background on their family history? Any detail would be greatly received.

The Perfect Honeymoon

We were delighted to welcome Jon and Sarah just recently, who chose to stay at Kiltearn House during their honeymoon.  They married on 3 November 2013 at a stunning venue- the White Oak Plantation in Baton Rouge, Louisiana.  Below is the lovely couple on their special day!

Of course a honeymoon is a very special occasion and we are pleased that Jon and Sarah enjoyed their stay with us during their travels.

" We were immediately struck by the beauty of the house and the warm welcome we received from Ed and Nel, the owners. Our room was spacious, clean, and well-appointed, the house was laid out with guest convenience in mind, and the included breakfast was enormous and delicious.

But the best part of our stay was Ed and Nel. They gave us restaurant and touring recommendations, they came to pick us up from the pub, they even allowed us to throw some of our laundry in with the house´s laundry (necessary after 2 weeks of travelling)! We were absolutely blown away by their hospitality and warmth. Our stay at Kiltearn was a highlight of our honeymoon.

I would definitely stay at Kiltearn House again, and I will definitely recommend it to anybody I know traveling in the area. Thank you so much for your hospitality while we at Kiltearn- it was a highlight of our trip".

Thank you for such a lovely review- here´s to many happy years together!
